A WOMAN has been left fuming after claiming she has to hide in her own home because of her nightmare neighbour’s annoying kids.
The homeowner took to Reddit to ask for advice after she and her spouse were swamped by requests from surrounding houses asking if they could pop over for a swim.
The woman, 43, and her husband, 36, are “staunchly childfree” with the original poster saying that “neither of us are comfortable” around younger kids.
And although the couple only moved into the house last summer, they have been “immediately bombarded” by children begging to swim.
She said that the claims have only increased the summer months with the hot weather only spurring kids on to ask for a dip in their pool.
Her post read: “The young neighborhood kids have started accosting me, outside our house, with pleas and begs of, ‘Can we swim in your pool?’
“Just now, a pack of them rang the doorbell for 2 minutes! I had to hide in the kitchen so they couldn’t see me.”
The disgruntled homeowner had momentary relief when the kids ran back across the street.
But she then claims they came back and “camped out in the front yard” of her property which is believed to be in the US.
And the Redditor added that they were “wearing swimsuits and jumping through a sprinkler” with “eyes trained on our door for any signs of movement”.
She continued: “It doesn’t help that the previous owner of our house was more than happy to let these kids swim.
“A young man and woman with no kids of their own, letting the neighbor kids swim without their parents supervising? Yeah, that’s not creepy at all!”
The resident added that when the initial requests happened, she and her husband dismissed them out of hand for safety reasons.
She said: “We immediately took the stance that we weren’t NOT the previous owners and that, no, we would not let them swim in our pool.
“We even told the parents, because the insurance liabilities are terrifying!”
The original poster then turned to the community for help after ending the story by likening her situation to being “under siege” in her own house.
As always, Redditors were quick to take to the comment section to share their opinions.
One wrote: “Go to your nearest warehouse store and get an inexpensive video security camera setup that records, so you have a record of what’s going on and so it alerts you when they do jump the fence.
“This way, you can prove that they were trespassing and that you did not give them permission to swim.”
Another said: “Tell them no, straight out. Let them know that the pool is not safe without you or your wife watching them and you don’t have the time to do that.
“Also, get “no trespassing” signs immediately. Post them on your gate and outside the pool. Protect yourself and stick to your guns.”
A third advised: “I would speak to the parents one more time. Tell them if they don’t stop coming and bothering you, you will have to take action through the police (trespassing and damn near harassing you).
“No need to be threatening, but explain it truthfully – you simply aren’t the previous owner, and won’t be allowing it for your own protection and liability, and this is the last time you will be nice about it.”
And a fourth wrote: “Definitely cover your bases, the best way possible. Keep turning the kids away, eventually they’ll get the hint.
“Sorry you have to go through that. Hope it stops and you can enjoy your hard earned pool in peace.”
It comes after a couple were left fuming when their nightmare neighbour stole their parcel minutes after it was left outside.
We previously told how a resident found a bizarre handwritten note from their entitled neighbour telling them not to park in “their” spot
