Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said Australia will work with Indonesia on tackling climate change after a meeting with president Joko Widodo.
A joint statement issued by the leaders revealed the key points they discussed.One is a new $200m plan to work on a climate and infrastructure plan together.
“Leaders addressed the urgent challenge of climate change, including the need to accelerate clean energy transition while maintaining and enhancing energy security,” they said.
As part of ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations), the pair talked about backing efforts to tackle the crisis in Myanmar, plus plans to boost defence cooperation.
Meanwhile, Australia will help Indonesia plan its new capital city, Nusantara.And another 5000 Indonesians a year will be able to come to Australia on work and holiday visas.
