Israel’s government spokesperson David Mencer confirmed the war cabinet has been dissolved. (@DavidMencer/X formerly Twitter)
In May, Israel told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ignore noise “from various social media accounts or interviews” and instead, look at directives from its war cabinet to determine official policy on its war on Hamas.
That was a more general framing of an argument Israel had also made in January, after South Africa cited Israel’s heritage minister Amihai Eliyahu’s comment that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza was a possibility. His statement “was immediately repudiated by members of the war cabinet”, Israel told the ICJ.
But over the weekend, that war cabinet was dissolved, as the government confirmed on Monday.
