The start of a new year means new beginnings and new opportunities. That includes new beginnings for your American Express shopping credits and new opportunities for purchases that might have $0 out-of-pocket costs to you.
Specifically, I’m referring to the annual Saks Fifth Avenue credits on The Platinum Card® from American Express and Dell shopping credits on The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. Enrollment is required in advance to use these benefits.
Let’s look at how to use your renewed balance of shopping credits for the year ahead.

Make sure to stack this credit with online shopping portals to earn bonus cash back or miles. Also keep an eye out for any sales or coupons Saks is offering, along with Amex Offers.
If you frequently shop at Saks, this statement credit will come in handy. Even if you don’t, it’s easy to find a few items that cost no more than $50. When you search the sale section, you can sort specifically for items that are less than $50 (so you can bet I’ll be stocking up on a few T-shirts this week).

This benefit is available as up to $200 in statement credits from January to June and up to $200 in statement credits from July to December each year. And it doesn’t have to be a computer, either. You can even use your Dell credits for a new carry-on bag, speakers or gaming gift cards.

Again, use shopping portals to maximize this purchase by adding extra points, miles or cash back on top of your purchase and the statement credits you’ll receive from American Express.
Bottom line
You’ll want to use up these statement credits no matter which card you have, as they are “use it or lose it” benefits that won’t roll over to the second half of the year.
