NEW DELHI: Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been hospitalized following planned abdominal surgery, and Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday that she will stay at a private hospital for a duration of up to two weeks.
The former Kate Middleton is anticipated to resume public duties post-Easter, with the 42-year-old future queen having been admitted to The London Clinic on Tuesday.
In a statement, the palace conveyed, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
While the palace did not disclose further details, it affirmed that her condition is noncancerous. Despite generally good health, Kate had previously been hospitalized during pregnancy due to severe morning sickness.
Expressing regret for postponing upcoming engagements, the palace conveyed Kate’s desire to reinstate them as soon as possible. Born on January 9, 1982, in Reading, England, Kate Middleton, a royal by choice, grew up in a well-to-do area of Berkshire. She met Prince William at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Following Prince Harry and Meghan’s move to California in 2020, the Prince and Princess of Wales have solidified their popularity within the royal family.
Kate, in particular, has remained a steadfast figure in the public eye, known as the smiling mother of three who can offer comfort at a children’s hospice or captivate the nation with her piano performance during a televised Christmas concert.
She was among the royals present at the annual Christmas Day service at Sandringham.
