It is not uncommon for conventional wisdom to be challenged from time to time. That is as true in the NBA as it is anywhere else in the world.
It is possible that we may have assumptions about the way in which the league operates. In some cases, those assumptions are proven to be incorrect.
As an example, one of the things that makes it easier to build a team is the size of the market, right? Furthermore, if you are able to attract multiple superstars at once, you should be able to stay competitive for a significant period of time, shouldn’t you?
