Despite not being on an NBA roster, Langston Galloway still impacts the game. The eight-year guard is the co-founder of Ethics, a brand that features his own signature shoe. Recently, Kyrie Irving was spotted wearing the LgTWO during his pregame warmup.
In an interview with Sideline Sources’ Wenzell Ortiz, Galloway said that it was a “great surprise” to see Irving don his shoe and previewed what’s next for the brand.
While Irving didn’t play against the Grizzlies last Saturday, he did participate in the team’s pregame shootaround. The eight-time All-Star made waves by wearing the LgTWO’s, Galloway’s signature sneaker. The move was accentuated by the fact that it was the first time in Irving’s career that he had played in a shoe other than Nike’s.
When asked about his decision to don Galloway’s shoes, Irving kept it short and sweet. “I wanted to show him some love,” Irving told ESPN.
Galloway appreciates Irving wearing his shoes
When talking with Sideline Sources, Galloway extolled Irving for wearing the LgTWO. He especially appreciated the NBA champion making Ethics his first basketball show post-Nike.
“It was a great surprise to see Kyrie rock the LgTWO and show love to my brand, Ethics,” Galloway told Sideline Sources’ Wenzell Ortiz.
Additionally, Galloway shared details about the LgTWO. It builds on the elements that made the LgONE successful. Moreover, it is the first low-cut shoe in Ethics’ sneaker line.
“The LgTWO, our first low-cut performance basketball shoe, drops early spring and shares many of the features and elements of our successful LgONE mid-cut,” Galloway said. “Please stay tuned for release details.”
The LgTWO is set to release in early spring. In the meantime, fans can get a pair of the LgONEs at Ethics’ official website.
Galloway is currently playing for the Atlanta Hawks’ G League affiliate team — the College Park Skyhawks. For the season, the 31-year-old is averaging 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
Irving is a sneaker free agent for the first time in his career
Irving is no longer a Nike athlete. The 30-year-old has been wearing the coveted brand since high school but Nike recently suspended their relationship.
The partnership began fracturing in July 2021. Irving accused Nike of not including him in the design process for his eighth signature shoe. Then, in spring 2022, reports burgeoned that the swoosh brand planned on ending its deal with Irving following the 2022-2023 season.
Finally, in November 2022, Nike suspended its relationship with Irving due to remarks that were deemed antisemitic. Ultimately, the Kyire 8, which was scheduled to launch last November, was removed from Nike’s slate.
Prior to wearing Galloway’s LgTWO, Irving would cover the Nike logo on his signature sneakers, replacing it with messages. Irving’s first shoe with Nike was launched in 2014.
