BEIJING — China’s legislature is set to appoint Li Qiang as premier on Saturday, becoming the country’s second-in-command as head of the government cabinet.
Li will lead the State Council, the country’s chief administrative organ, along with a new team of top officials to be picked Sunday before the National People’s Congress concludes on Monday as President Xi Jinping begins his unprecedented third term in office.
