Attacking midfielder, Luke Harris has signed a three-year professional contract at Fulham until June 2025.
Harris has spent his entire youth career at Fulham where he graduated through their youth ranks during which he scored 13 goals in 18 appearances last season, which was rewarded with inclusion in the Cottagers’ senior pre-season training camp this summer alongside first-team players.
The 17 year-old’s hard work eventually impressed manager, Marco Silva who handed him his senior debut in their 2-0 defeat at Crawley Town in the Second Round of this season’s Carabao Cup.
Speaking to Fulhamfc.com about his decision to accept a professional contract at Craven Cottage, Harris commented: “I’m really pleased to extend my time here at Fulham having been here from a young age.
Harris also showed humbleness for his parents’ sacrifices to help him achieve his ambition, as he added: “I couldn’t have done it without my parents who sacrificed a lot for me, driving me away on the weekends as a young kid, so they deserve a lot of credit.”
Looking ahead to his targets for the season and beyond, Harris continued: “I’m enjoying my football and I’m very excited for what lies ahead.
“The Club means a lot to me and my family. I’m grateful to Fulham as they’ve given me opportunities and helped me progress from the Academy right through to the First Team.”
Harris has also scored five goals for Fulham Under-23s in recent weeks which has caught the eye of Wales manager, Rob Page who handed the youngster his maiden senior call-up to the Wales international team.
Silva meanwhile spoke highly of Harris during his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s trip to Nottingham Forest as he said: “He’s been with us since the first day of pre-season. I spoke with him last May about the project for him at this Club.
“He will get games, he will be on the bench, he will have some minutes. We have to be patient with him, and not push pressure around him.
“Now we have to help him grow as a player. He will have his time in the First Team, because he has the quality.”
Fulham’s Academy Director, Mike Cave added that Harris often “consistently” demonstrated his talent and “outstanding capabilities” as a player, whilst showing “maturity and capacity to perform at the highest level.”
