Manchester United have signed midfielder, Lisa Naalsund from SK Brann for £160k.
Naalsund’s move comes after she spent four seasons with SK Brann during which she scored 18 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions, as she helped the Norwegian club to two Toppserien titles.
Man Utd have paid a £160k transfer fee to SK Brann for the midfielder following negotiations, with Naalsund having since signed a three-and-a-half year contract until end of 2025-26 season.
Speaking about her move to the Red Devils, Naalsund commented: “Manchester United is a great football club and I’m very excited to be here. The club is full of nice people and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the amazing fans.
Utd are currently sat top of Women’s Super League and still in contention for a domestic women’s double after League Cup elimination, which excites Naalsund who added: “It’s great to come to a club that has everything to play for this season – I love that. It’s going to be great!”
Man Utd Women’s Head Coach, Marc Skinner added that he is “excited to welcome” Naalsund to the club, where he hopes her “wealth of top-level experience,” plus “mentality, box-to-box driving runs and desire to win” will help boost their midfield with “a variance of skill and quality to the team.”
Utd’s Head of Women’s Football, Polly Bancroft is “delighted” to finally sign Naalsund who she believes is “a proven winner” and only further cements Utd’s “ambition to finish as high up the WSL table as possible and take that next step we all desire.”
Naalsund represents Norway in international football where she has made nine senior appearances since her debut in June 2021 against Sweden.
Naalsund could make her debut for Utd away to Sunderland in the Fourth Round of 2022-23 Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 29 January, in a 1pm GMT kick-off live on MUTV.
