During an interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, Mikal Bridges talked about the criticism he’s received from Brooklyn Nets fans this season.
The Nets are only 6-7 and Bridges is shooting just 31.3% from beyond the arc.
Bridges, who is the franchise player for the Nets in the post-Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving era, is averaging 20.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists on the season. However, he’s averaging a career-high 2.5 turnovers per game.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Mikal Bridges, Brooklyn Nets Updates
The Nets acquired Bridges from the Phoenix Suns in the blockbuster Durant trade last season. Bridges is averaging 24.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists with Brooklyn. The team got swept by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2023 playoffs.
Bridges is finding out how difficult it is to be the number one option on a team. You get all the blame when you lose and all the credit when you win. The All-NBA defender has the skills and character to fight through adversity and get the Nets back on track, so Brooklyn’s front office doesn’t have to worry about Bridges getting off track.
Multiple teams in the NBA are interested in acquiring Bridges from the Nets. However, Brooklyn has rebuffed every offer for Bridges, who has career averages of 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists with the Suns and Nets.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Mikal Bridges, Brooklyn Nets Updates
For the Nets to compete in the East, players around Bridges have to play better. Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas also have to get healthy, as both players are currently injured.
