Newcastle United will be the focus of an Amazon Prime Video documentary covering 2022-23 season.
Prime Video have previously done football documentary series centred around Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal under the All or Nothing name, but this new four-part documentary centred on Newcastle won’t be part of that series.
Newcastle United CEO, Darren Eales issued the following comment to nufc.co.uk upon confirmation of the documentary: “We are excited to be offering global football fans a front row seat at this exciting time in Newcastle United’s history.
“The documentary will give football and non-football fans across the globe a unique and authentic insight into how a major Premier League club operates and will take fans on the journey with us as we strive to achieve our goals on and off the pitch.”
Filming is underway with the series being produced in a collaboration between Lorton Entertainment and 72 Films, who between them have produced films like Diego Maradona and All or Nothing: Arsenal.
Lorton Entertainment CEO, Julian Bird said that the company “are thrilled” to be working on the documentary with Newcastle and believes that the time is right amidst “rapid change” on and off pitch to explore what goes on “behind the scenes” at Newcastle.
Bird also acknowledged that they’re “privileged” to be able “to work on amazing stories of game-changing sporting icons,” and can’t wait to add Newcastle United to their sporting portfolio of sporting documentaries.
72 Films’ Executive Producer, Clare Cameron added that this documentary marks “a unique opportunity to understand the inner workings of the club and see the effect the change in ownership is having on the fans, the city of Newcastle and the team’s results on the pitch.”
Within the documentary series, there will be ‘exclusive access’ to decision makers within the club whilst following the team’s progress this season, in which they reached their first cup final since 1999 despite ending in defeat to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Final.
The series will also explore the history of Newcastle United and their ‘unique bond with its passionate supporters’, which has strengthened since a change of ownership in October 2021.
Exact broadcast date will be confirmed in due course with the series set to be available across UK, Ireland and Nordic region.
