Nottingham Forest have signed midfielder, Danilo from Palmeiras for £17.8m.
Danilo joins Forest after impressing for Brazil Serie A’s Palmeiras in which he scored 12 goals in 141 senior appearances since his senior debut in September 2020.
The 21 year-old Brazilian had initially joined Palmeiras’ youth academy on loan from PFC Cajazeirense in 2018, and quickly rose through the academeny ranks to secure a permanent transfer in September 2020 – just days after he made his senior debut for the club.
Forest though were able to fight off competition from Arsenal and Monaco to sign Danilo on a six-and-a-half year contract until June 2029.
Speaking about his decision to move to Forest, Danilo commented: “I’m really happy to be fulfilling my dream of playing in the Premier League and playing for Nottingham Forest.
“I learnt a bit about the history of the Club and saw they had won two European Cups. I spoke to Gustavo Scarpa as well, and he told me that Nottingham is a great city and Forest have a quality squad with really good staff.”
On what Forest fans can expect from him at the club, Danilo added: “I will show a lot of determination and a strong desire to win and will always look to do my best on the pitch to achieve positive results.”
During his time at Palmeiras, Danilo scored in the second legs of their Campeonato Paulista and Recopa Sudamericana Finals last season, as he helped the club secure six titles in total during his time at the club;
- 2 x Copa Libertadores – 2020, 2021
- 1 x Copa do Brasil – 2020
- 1 x Campeonato Brasileiro – 2022
- 1 x Campeonato Paulista – 2022
- 1 x Recopa Sudamericana – 2022
Danilo will wear the number 28 shirt and could make his debut for Forest away at Bournemouth in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 21 January, whilst his home bow at City Ground could take place on Sunday 5 February live on Sky Sports against Leeds in a 2pm GMT kick-off.
