Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is a game-time decision for Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Kraken, head coach Jay Woodcroft said. If Kane plays, it’ll be his first game since he underwent emergency surgery for a cut on his wrist.

Kane suffered the injury on Nov. 8 after getting tangled with Lightning defenceman Philippe Myers and was subsequently cut by Tampa Bay forward Pat Maroon’s skate blade while on the ice. Kane was transported to a hospital and underwent a procedure that night.
The 31-year-old was supposed to be sidelined for three to four months.
The Oilers will need to make a roster move if Kane is to return. Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported Edmonton will place forward Kailer Yamamoto on long-term injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 11, to free-up a spot and remain cap-compliant.
Kane signed a four-year, $20.5-million contract with the Oilers in the off-season and has five goals and eight assists over 13 games so far in 2022-23.
Yamamoto is out with an undisclosed injury and would be eligible to return after the NHL All-Star break if placed on LTIR.
