Police were forced to abandon a pursuit near Invercargill after concerns for safety for the public.
A police spokesperson said about 7.40pm on Tuesday police received a report that a male, wanted by police in regard to incidents from earlier this year, was at the Greenpoint cemetery near Bluff.
“A vehicle of interest was located in the area of the cemetery and road spikes were successfully deployed.

“Staff followed the vehicle north on the Bluff Highway but abandoned pursuit when the vehicle reached the Invercargill city boundaries because of safety concerns.
“The vehicle was located on Earn St but no one was with it – further inquiries are being made,” the spokesperson said.
Police have been approached for comment about whether any arrests had since been made.
