NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 21 – Kenya’s long time Opposition leader Raila Odinga has called for a mega rally at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi in fresh efforts to intensify poll rigging claims.
Odinga unsuccessfully challenged President William Ruto’s victory at the Supreme Court after the August 2022 presidential election but he has lately insited he won the election.
“Mr. Odinga appeals to Kenyans to show up in large numbers at the Kamukunji Baraza, in the interest of the country,” a statement from his office said Saturday, days after is political troops led by running mate Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka addressed a press conference in Nairobi, to build momentum on the claim.
But in a swift rejoinder, President Ruto declared, “I won the election and I was expected to win due to the massive support I enjoy countrywide.”
Odinga is out of the country and due back on Monday 11am when will proceed to Kamukunji Grounds for what his office described as a People’s Baraza consultation, where they will discuss recent disclosures by a whistleblower on the conduct of the 2022 General Election.
