The Republic of Korea Marine Corps (RoKMC) exhibited a model of the Aron M80 wing-in-ground (WIG) effect aircraft at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2023 held from 17 to 22 October.

, an RoKMC officer said the WIG aircraft can provide an edge in amphibious operations with its ability to rapidly deploy troops. The Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) and RoKMC are pursuing the ability to conduct high-speed amphibious operations without being detected by enemy forces. With the Aron M80 WIG aircraft, the forces intend to overcome maritime obstacles such as sea mines and reefs through high-speed and long-distance sail, the officer said.
The RoKMC is pursuing the case with the South Korean Ministry of National Defense, which is allocating funds for research and development, the officer said.
