Police say the man remains in custody in Ontario on charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
They say Hajtamiri was violently assaulted with a frying pan in an underground parking lot in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Dec. 20, 2021.
Police say she was then abducted on Jan. 12, 2022, from a relative’s home in Wasaga Beach, Ont., where her family says she was hiding out after the attack.
Police say two women have been charged with kidnapping, while a warrant remains out for one man and investigators try to pin down the identity of another outstanding suspect.
