The victim was met by paramedics at Surrey Central Station and treated and released from hospital, while a suspect stayed on the train before getting off at King George Station.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police released images and video several days later of a man suspected in the attack in the SkyTrain system earlier in the day.
That appeal led to a suspect’s arrest on Friday. He has since been released with conditions not to possess weapons or contact the victim.
His first court appearance is set for June 14 in provincial court in Surrey.
“We thank the media and public for their assistance in sharing the suspect video and photos,” said Transit Police Const. Travis Blair in a statement. “Everyone deserves to ride the transit system free from any form of harassment or physical assault.”
Anyone who saw the interaction aboard SkyTrain in the early morning hours of April 15 is asked to call police at 604-515-8302 or text 87-77-77.
