Zach LaVine’s time with the Chicago Bulls may be coming to an end. News broke this week that the two-time All-Star is currently being shopped around the league. While no trades are guaranteed, major changes seem to be on their way soon in Chicago.
The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be a team targeting multiple Bulls players via trade. However, there is no indication that the Bulls at this moment are focused on blowing their team up. Instead, a type of retooling could be looming for the team.
The Lakers reportedly have their eyes set on DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Alex Caruso as players that they could add in order to stay a contender in the NBA, per The Athletic’s Jovan Buha. The Lakers are off to a 6-6 start even with LeBron James still finding ways to play at an All-Star level.
The Bulls can move in a variety of different directions at this point. The team undeniably has talent, but will have to make a change of some sort in the coming months. The Lakers are a team coming off a Western Conference Finals appearance that could be looking to improve.
Working out deals for any of these players would likely be the most difficult part when it comes to making a trade. However, if the Bulls are just looking to retool it may be much easier to work something out.
Chicago is currently 4-8 and has not been able to show much hope for turning their season around in a serious way. Although plenty of games are left, the writing seems to be on the wall for a change in Chicago. Meanwhile, the Lakers could be in for another explosive trade deadline this year.
