You’ve got to love it when an NBA player has a breakout season.
It’s never expected. Generally, we assume a consistent, linear developmental arc for NBA players.
They’ll be bad as rookies, decent as sophomores, and basically whatever they’re going to be by their third year.
It doesn’t always go that way. Some players take longer to acclimatize to the NBA. They may break out a little later than expected.
Rui Hachimura of the Washington Wizards seems like a breakout candidate. It’s not happening in 2022-23, but at 24, Hachimura still has plenty of time to make strides.
Could he do so on the Indiana Pacers?
