Pamela Anderson attends the Jacquemus show on December 12, 2022 in Le Bourget, France.
Between work parties, end of year drinks, the gifting and all the eating, Christmas is a time of excess. So it seems quite fitting that all the celebrity looks that caught our eyes this week were also a bit OTT.
Feathered, sparkly, and positively dripping in silver, they’re a reminder that sometimes bigger really is better.

Best hat
Pamela Anderson absolutely stole the show at the Jacquemus show in Paris this week, peacocking in a giant fringed straw hat and tufted dress ensemble. This isn’t the first time she’s served us statement headwear – who could forget the infamous pink fluffy hat she wore to the MTV music awards in 1999 (with blue eyeshadow right up to her pencil-thin brows).
I love how much fun she has with fashion, and this sartorial nod to her past is getting me very excited to see how she tells her own story in the Netflix documentary that comes out next year. Yes Pammy! – Lara Daly
Best mess
Poor Portia and her Gen Z holiday wardrobe have really been dragged through the mud throughout this season of The White Lotus, and her final look even more so. Going ‘incognito’ at the airport, after the drama of the rest of the episode, she upped the ante with a headscarf and big sunglasses, styled with her hat, hoodie around the waist, woven backpack and chunky white sandals.
I’m quite obsessed with how much of a lightning rod her style has become, which somehow feels equally mean, ageist and misogynistic. Personally, I’ve loved watching her chaotic style on screen and think that the show’s costume designer did her job to perfection in showcasing the confused, trend-obsessed look of a young person trying to figure out who they are. She is the visual definition of the ‘avant basic’, weird girl trend. There were plenty of other chic – and pointed – style moments in the series, but Portia’s felt the most ‘real’. – Zoe Walker Ahwa
Best Parisian in New York
Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has made a habit of playing extremely chic women on screen, perhaps because she herself is an extremely chic woman. She’s been in New York this week with the rest of the Emily in Paris cast to promote the third season of the show which gets released on December 21 but hasn’t let the cold Northern Hemisphere weather dampen her joie de vivre.
She’s worn a parade of superb boots around the big apple this week, including an incredible cheetah print pair she wore to a premiere, but this fuchsia pair take the cake in my eyes. Just so fun. – Tyson Beckett
Best troll
Katie Holmes is definitely trolling us here, with this Atomic Kitten meets Portia from the White Lotus ‘fit and I am totally here for it. Look, it’s not easy to stand out from the crowd these days so kudos to Katie for doing whatever it takes. I bet [daughter] Suri loved this look as much as I do. – Rebecca Wadey
Best statement
On the other end of the scale we have Naomi Ackie at the premiere of I Wanna Dance With Somebody, who has worked out how to step into her spotlight in the most glorious of ways.
Here she’s wearing custom Schiaparelli first seen on the runway at Paris Haute Couture Week back in July. Schiaparelli Couture is anything but subtle, but it’s always considered, thought-provoking and bold. I love this choice for Naomi and can’t wait to see her as my beloved Whitney. – RW
Best cover
Fashion magazine covers are truly a dark art, and in a former life when I was a print magazine editor, it would give me massive anxiety every single issue. There is still this slightly uncomfortable battle between mass appeal (which hopefully translates into traditional supermarket sales) and mass reach (i.e. lots of buzz and brand building).
The covers that really seem to attract attention these days are those that are about surprising and iconic moments – like this new cover from British Vogue, featuring the supermodel Iman, in a gown with skull cap by Norma Kamali and gloves by Sun Woo. It’s so simple but so effective. I was instantly obsessed as soon as I saw it on Instagram, and while I’m not the biggest print fashion magazine purchaser any more, I will be making sure that I own a physical copy of this.
Best wet look
Compiling these roundups every week has given me an almost useless database in my head of celebrities who habitually take part in paparazzi walks. One of those celebs is Heidi Klum, and while I’m yet to been tempted by any of the looks she wears to walk up and down the street very slowly for the paparazzi, this Lever Couture look that she wore to the premiere of Los Angeles of Avatar: The Way of Water stopped me in my tracks.
From the slicked back wet hair to the delicate silver fabric of her gown that created the illusion of moving water, the look is further evidence that even outside of Halloween, there’s no one that does fancy dress better than Klum. – TB
