Report coming in says the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a visa ban on nationalities from 20 African countries including Liberia, seeking to visit Dubai.
Countries affected include Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros and Liberia.
Though African Entertainment is yet to established the reason/decision behind the ban; information had it that the move is aimed at keeping away African nationalities who had taken advantage of the visit visas to overstay in the UAE, and that the ban takes immediate effect.
“This is to inform you that we will not be posting 30 days visa applications for these nationalities effective today October, 18, 2022,” the notice said.
Furthermore, in a notice issued to trade partners, including travel agents, authorities indicated that all applications should be rejected. “Any applications from the above mentioned countries will be sent back or cancelled.”
Editor’s note: African Entertainment was unable to confirm from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as to whether it has received any official communication the UAE authorities regarding the visa ban imposed on Liberia and other African countries.
