Arsenal continue their title challenge with a blockbuster Super Sunday clash against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium.
Victory could see Arsenal potentially extend their title lead to eight points if Manchester City lose elsewhere, whilst Man Utd can go third with a win.
Team News
Mohamed Elneny is a doubt for Arsenal as he looks to recover from a knock.
Reiss Nelson (thigh) and Gabriel Jesus (knee) both remain absent.
Man Utd will be without Casemiro after he collected his fifth booking of the season in their 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace in midweek.
Jack Butland (ineligibility) and Anthony Martial (knock) could however both be back in contention.
Diogo Dalot (hamstring), Axel Tuanzebe (unspecified), Donny van de Beek (knee), Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood (both personal) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Arsenal host Manchester United at Emirates Stadium in a 4:30pm GMT kick-off on Sunday 22 January, live on Sky Sports in UK.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal are unbeaten in three of their last five league meetings against Man Utd (W2, D1, L2).
- Man Utd have won just one of their last five league visits to Arsenal (W1, D1, L3).
- Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has scored in each of his last two appearances against Man Utd.
- Arsenal have lost just one of 12 matches at home in all competitions this season (W10, D1, L1).
- Three of Bruno Fernandes’ four league goals for Utd this season have been scored after half-time.
Prediction
Having dominated Tottenham in the North London derby and seen both Manchester-based clubs suffer slip-ups in the past week, Arsenal know this title race is now in their own hands but I would like to see them show neater finishing after spurring several chances last weekend.
Man Utd meanwhile will have to try and adapt quickly without Casemiro as their midfield lynchpin because if Arsenal start like they did last weekend, I do fear for Utd’s defence if their midfield is quickly overridden but their counter-attacking pace will be crucial.
Utd will also be buoyant by the fact that they beat Arsenal in September without Casemiro plus are in equally strong form like Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, so I do expect this to be a really close battle between two in-form attacking teams.
Arsenal though should have the edge given their home form but they can’t afford to underestimate this test, especially with a FA Cup trip to Manchester City next weekend.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United
