Manchester City continue their chase of the Premier League title with a home clash against West Ham at Etihad Stadium.
Victory will see Man City return to the summit, whilst West Ham can climb to 14th with a win.
Team News
Kevin De Bruyne could return for Man City after recovering from a knock which prevented him from featuring in Sunday’s win at Fulham.
Nathan Ake (hamstring) could also feature if he passes a late fitness test.
West Ham will be without defender, Kurt Zouma after he suffered an ankle injury during their loss at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Gianluca Scamacca (knee) remains absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Man City face West Ham at 8pm on Wednesday 3 May at Etihad Stadium, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man City are unbeaten in their last 14 league meetings against West Ham (W11, D3).
- West Ham have lost each of their last six league visits to Man City (L6).
- Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens have scored twice in each of their last four league meetings against West Ham (W3, D1).
- Man City have kept just one clean sheet in their last five league games at home (W5), which came in a 2-0 win against Newcastle in March 2023.
- Michail Antonio has scored in each of West Ham’s last two away games (W1, L1).
Prediction
Despite outclassing Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday with two clinical first-half goals, Man City still have room for improvement because their end product was largely inaccurate which cost them more goals.
Their defence meanwhile were lucky not to concede two penalty kicks in a fairly scrappy defensive performance, in which they poorly marked Carlos Vinicius’s goal from a direct ball showing that they do still have vulnerabilities which can be targeted.
West Ham meanwhile will be disappointed with the manner of their defeat at Crystal Palace because their defensive ball control was sloppy, whilst they struggled to create much end product in open play but their set piece threat was clinical which could be key to getting goals here.
I however can’t see David Moyes’ Hammers mounting much of a challenge to this Man City team, unless they are absolutely clinical on attack and pitch-perfect in defence which I just don’t see happening but I do expect both teams to make changes which should keep the result respectable.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 West Ham
