Crystal Palace welcome Leeds United to Selhurst Park in a Super Sunday clash.
Victory would see Palace move up into 14th, although a win by two goals or more could see them leapfrog Leeds into 13th if West Ham lose elsewhere.
Leeds meanwhile can go as high as seventh with a win if Fulham loses elsewhere.
Team News
Chris Richards is a doubt for Crystal Palace after suffering a leg injury but will be handed a late fitness test.
Joachim Andersen (calf) is a doubt but Nathaniel Clyne has been ruled out with an ankle injury.
Jack Butland (hand), Nathan Fergus (foot) and James McArthur (groin) remain absent.
Leeds will be without Luis Sinisterra as he serves an one match ban after his red card against Aston Villa last week.
Leo Fuhr (illness), Archie Gray (toe), Adam Forshaw (ankle) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) are sidelined.
Stat Attack
- Crystal Palace have claimed four points from their last four Premier League meetings against Leeds (W1, D1, L2).
- Leeds are unbeaten in three of five previous Premier League visits to Selhurst Park (W2, D1, L2)
- Only one of the five meetings between Palace and Leeds in South London have finished goalless.
- Palace have scored first in each of their last two matches at home (D1, L1).
- Leeds have scored twice in two of their three away games this season (D1, L2), with their only blank coming in a 1-0 defeat at Brighton in August 2022.
Prediction
With just one league win this season, it is surprising that not many questions are being raised about Patrick Vieira’s future because for all of Palace’s quality, defensive mistakes have been their downfall repeatedly on top of wasted chances as shown against Chelsea last weekend.
I therefore would like to see them find some consistency because they’re capable of better results amidst their decent attacking style, yet I am starting to wonder if Vieira might be a surprise candidate for the next Premier League sacking if their slump in form continues.
Leeds meanwhile have their own improvement to make after wasting several chances to beat Villa last weekend, mainly due to sloppy finishing because their attacking build-up is often excellent but ruined by the poor end product whilst Illan Meslier continues to deliver excellent goalkeeping.
This meeting back in April though lacked any quality and given the issues experienced by both teams, I can foresee another scrappy encounter but if Palace can get ahead and shore up their defence, they might just pull off a narrow win.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-0 Leeds
